Hell Is Where The Heart Is

The spook that scares
Taught me I couldn't run
I couldn't see
Into the blackness

Only thing there was
Strange sounds coming from under the stairs
A sound that became louder
In the pitch of too much darkness

I fumbled for the string of a light..
Thinking it had to be somewhere...
Then I felt a heavy hand grab my ankle
Throw me to the ground...

Petrified... I dug in with my nails
But I couldn't grasp into the cold concrete
As this monstrous hand took the upper hand
Digging his evil claws into my now bloody legs

As I slipped further and further
Away from the light,
I felt the pitchness of stale darkness
As the chamber door closed

I was shut off from the rest of my world
Brought down to the center of nowhere
Thinking clearly where am I?
Where in Gods world would I be?

Their deep throaty voices yelled back at me
You in this Hell boy, down with the gang of dark hearts
We're gonna chew on your soul

I stopped
I ran
I stopped
I ran

But they laughed... where you going?
You need to be here
It's the only heart you have
There's no other life down here
Just self suffering and agony.

"Their deep..." stanza is my favorite, and I think the poem would be stronger if you ended with that stanza and ellipses...
