Jolly good summary of the plot - a little light in the conclusion. For me the point of the story is to criticise the pecuniary orientation of Industrialising British society in the 1840's. The two spirits ignorance and want being two somewhat mawkish reminders of the horrendous social inequalities and conditions that the poor were flung into during this process. Dickens is a bit over the top - but effectively and memorably. Merry Christmas? Bah humbug
