Sunshine thick as honey
and we're caught in amber light
ignoring the house as it rumbles to life.

We're upstairs, a world away
in a swirl of sheets and white heat
playing at newlyweds for a day...

A knock at our door;
I cuss and rise, but you pull me in
with a grin, murmuring between kisses,
"It must be housekeeping."

Yes, it must be,
because today I'm 19
and nobody's mother…

Sounds like a slice of heaven Miss A. ( it takes a good poet to go back to being 19 ;) )

I wish I had a better grasp of the emotional intention of this but it shines as a recollection of a not fully understood moment (as if any moment were ever fully understood).

I like the poem very much. Especially the line
with amber light.
