Alleluia

Man, a renegade sordid assembly
Created his own history;
His own tales apart from God
As he lay waste his mind
On sordid dreams that became
Nothing but sifting sand
That whittled through his hands.

And his bitter growing contempt
Of God, who often went days,
Without any thought of giving respect
And said prayers over thanksgiving
At what God had provided him

Food for the table, love for the heart,
The air we breath, the promise of His Son
To be with us in everlasting - whiteness of purity,
Where God has always stood, from Everlasting to
All time; He is, He be, a pillar of strength
For our tiny tears
That cry down man's river - needlessly away.

For man has turned away; and has, and always will
Be propped by his own philosophy, of himself,
And self love and spiritualism without God;
That cannot be.

For there is only One God who made it all be:
The rivers, the great mountains, the birds,
The beautiful air, the sun, the perfect moon
And the deepness and depth of gorgeous space
That goes round our heads
Like a missing sky in our eyes.

For man has turned away from all that concerns God;
Having turned inward into himself
To his own futility; his own dreams
That work for a day but then vanish away.

Only God remains steadfast and strong,
Among us always; yet rarely found,
For we want Him on our own terms
On our own lies, based on our vanity;
Failing to realize that we are His creatures
And He is our God.

The Mighty Wonderful God, the "I Am" throughout time
Spilling out His will...
Even given us free will to live apart from Him.
But Him sees everything!
His Son: a Mighty Lamb,
Washing away our sins, if we only choose.

We have the Holy Ghost to see us through until the Great Lord,
The Lord many were martyred for...
In all His Majestic Power and stunning Glory
Hallelujah!
To appear to us again
To those He came to save,
To heal the broken hearted,
To make us whole again

And the dearly departed in Christ
Will be redeemed by their resurrection to the Lord
And dwell all with the Lord
In His Mighty Kingdom

Where no darkness will ever encroach
And all will be as promised; in Heaven!
With a bliss, we, in our current state, cannot imagine...
Ever and ever with the Loving Lord!

Alleluia

What a beautiful homage to God without going over the top.

Can I suggest that you use 'through' rather than 'off' in the line

whittled off his hands.

keep writing Shadows!

Hey Michael, this is my your favorite poem. It is as beautiful as it's title. In this cut and throat world where everybody is so busy in their filthy life which is full of envy, hatred and deceit, your poem reminds us that lord is watching all our actions quietly and we have to give him a reply for all these one day.

Good work done. Keep it up! :-)

Hey Amrita,

Thank you. Yeah I feel the same way as you. I wish you were my neighbor. :)

Jeepers - as if I would. :flare:

To be honest I never feel qualified to comment on any 'religious' material because it's outside my realm of experience or interests so I generally pass on the other side as it were.

I was a little confused by the image of sand whittling through hands - though the word does present a touch of aliteration when coupled with 'bitter' in the next verse.
