A Sinner's Remorse

I am 10 steps
away from eternity,
on a straight path
that only the good can pass,
it's thiner
than a hair,
sharper
than a blade.

The devil stands
on my left,
the angel
on my right,
while God
waits for me
on the other side,
watching me
doing His final test.

I look down to see
eternal darkness.
I tremble
at the view,
the evil laughs,
the good frowns,
and He smiles.

I can not retain
this fragile balance.
My sins overwhelm
my virtues.
I stumble and fall,
close my eyes,
shed a last tear
of remorse.

It took a millenia
to reach the bottom,
or so i think.
I open my eyes,
I am not in darkness,
rather, the brightest light.

I am on His hand,
He didn't let me fall,
He pulls me up,
puts me down
infront of heaven's door,
I praise His name
and cry,
but once again,
He smiles.

I really like this poem. It is composed in a v.simple language and beautifully depicts the dilemma of good and bad that everybody in this world suffers from. Some people choose the right path and their firm faith in god help them to reach their destination (heavens) and some goes astray. Its ending is really awesome. :-)
