Even though authors rarely control what appears in front of their words, there are a few covers that I think are great. Here's my fav.

This is also pretty good (if you're into metafiction).

One of my all-time favorite covers is that of the first printing of Edward Abbey's The Monkey Wrench Gang.

I'd define it as *hallucinatory*. Serious supernatural horror. Quite a complex tale, though written in a concise style. Gothic surrealism. I like it.

Of my several copies of Alice and Looking Glass this is my favorite cover. I love pics of the white rabbit.

Rebuy it and sell your old copy on Amazon or something.

When a guy saw me reading "And The *** Saw The Angel" he advised that I pick up a copy of this book. I haven't done so yet, but I'm desperate to do so. This cover art is fantastic.

EDIT: I'd like to clarify that the word the censor has picked up is referring to a donkey.

Yeah, that's a good idea. That looks great. The Alice cover is also cool.

This is too interesting a thread to be left languishing in avizandum. But I bet these horse stories are a wind-up. Judging a book by its cover is an important part of reading. Being judgemental is human . Designing book covers also gives virtuous employment to illustrators and artists.

Does that short story title refer to the horses or their jockeys? Seriously I'd say good cover design is a separate art form but I have dozens of books with bland covers and delicious innards.
