I just wrote this, hope you enjoy it.
The Darkness.
I woke up and slowly glanced at the alarm clock, 7:48. I knew I would be late for work if I lingered any longer. My body complained as I tried to get out of bed, I swung my legs over the bed and stood up, managing not to fall. I made my way to the bathroom and stopped at the mirror. I sighed as I looked at myself. My eyes were accompanied by large grey semi-circles under them. Otherwise I looked like an average man, brown hair, brown eyes. After looking into my own eyes a little more, I tore myself away from the mirror, and turned the knob on the shower.
The water began to fall from the head, and just as steam obscured the inside of the shower, and I began to get in, a small hand slapped against the glass, making a gap in the steam just large enough to see through. The hand retreated back into the shower. I let out a horrific scream, and ran out of the bathroom. I sat huddled in a corner trying to make sense of what just happened. I heard the shower turn off. I quickly hushed my breathing, listening for anything. Silence. Perhaps I had imagined the whole thing? My mind must be playing tricks on me. That’s when my closet door opened. Slowly, Deliberately. I sat, frozen by fear. The Black Hand slowly came into view. It bent in a way no human’s could have, beckoning me. I held back the scream slowly building in me. The hand slowly started moving towards me, in rapid jerking movements. I finally screamed, as I did the closet door shut instantly, leaving no trace of the beast.
I ran to my phone, and dialed my boss’s number. “Hello? Stephan is this you?” I looked around my bedroom. “Y-yes, I won’t be coming into work today sir” I mumbled into the phone. “But don---“The line suddenly went dead. Horror began to consume me. I looked at the phones cord, and saw a perfectly clean cut. I dropped the phone and ran into the hallway; I had to get out of this house. As I glanced behind me, the lights in my bedroom flicked off. I sprinted to the stairs, and as I looked downwards, I saw darkness. All the lights downstairs were off. I turned to look down the hallway, a wall of darkness advancing towards me. But inside the wall, I could make out a face, a round face grinning maniacally. I backed into a corner, screaming. I looked downstairs, still screaming, and sprinted down the stairs.
In complete darkness, I was helpless. I felt along the wall, trying to find my way to the front door. Tears dripping off my face. I kept trudging through the black. I felt a hand on my shoulder. Swallowing the scream, I kept going. I felt a hand grab my ankle, I turned a corner and saw light streaming through a window, lighting up the front door. I was overjoyed, another hand grabbed my hair. And just as I made it to the light, the hands released, and I was safe. I looked up to thank god, and that’s when I saw them. Dozens of hands began covering the window, destroying my haven. I turned to the darkness surrounding me, and I saw the face, still grinning.
