Death Has No Part In Me

I look forward in life
I don't look back,
It's not how I lived
It's how I'm living.

Death has not part in me
Only life,
Death can't make me think
Only life.

When life proceeds through me
I again live,
Death has no part in me
Only life.

I give no thought to death
Death holds no part in me;
It's all life
What you see.

Death has no voice in me
Only life,
Death makes no promise to me
Therefore I write:

Don't say how I died
Think how I'll live,
Don't reminisce how I was
Think how I am.

You see death has no part in me
Only life,
On the day you say I died
Look there above me

In the sweet gate of heaven
I'm ever alive.

Death Came Harsh

Death came harsh as blinding tears
Burst forth into a towel of broken dreams.
This Angel swept up her precious body
Arriving as a thief in the night
In the cover of our darkness.

In the still light of the Lord
How cold our worlds have become.
Our hearts having become small and withdrawn
Takes well to the silent lamplight of a darkened room,
Where our misty eyes stare out vacant
Into the bitter dust we call the world.

Our little angel has left us
Leaving us broken in spirit.
There no greater love we have
Than the mourning of our precious,
Who in the darkness of night
Was bound and swept into the jaws of death!

These poems remind me of a grieving mother I once saw on a talk show... her daughter had been murdered and she hadn't been able to move past it. The counselor said that instead of celebrating the wonderful 18 years she had with her daughter, she was instead reliving a single day of grief...

Sad stuff, shadows.

Yes everyadventure, sad stuff. I try to write about what I've experienced in life. Whether it be reading stories or facing them myself. Though I think the first poem is kinda upbeat. Thanks for your commentary.

Love these lines

In the sweet gate of heaven
I'm ever alive.

There no greater love we have
Than the mourning of our precious,
Who in the darkness of night
Was bound and swept into the jaws of death!
