Do you know this poem?

Hi everyone! My boyfriend read a certain poem 20 years ago & it struck a chord with him. He has been trying to remember/find it for many years. I hope someone here may have an idea what it is. Unfortunately, I don't have a whole lot to go by but the poem was written in the first person & has a line like "I knew you when". It is like a history of time, the immortality of the soul & when two souls are intertwined through time & space. Also, he thinks he remembers the word "primordial" being in it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

did you try googling that phrase? Because when I did about 6,000 things popped up. Could be anyone of those

Yes, I've spent a good deal of time sifting through there but I haven't had any luck yet. The closest I've come is Unending Love by Rabindranath Tagore. I guess the one he is looking for is pretty similar to that one. Thanks for replying. :)
