Drawing The Path

We are all given at birth
a plain white paper,
a pencil to draw our way
and some colors to paint it.


Some try to be profound,
so they draw a twisted path
with many obstacles in the way,
paint it in many colors.
so they slow themselves down
and oft lose their way.


Some others are wiser,
they draw a straight path
along the plain paper
and leave it white as it is.

"Plane" might work, but I believe you wanted "plain'.
