Death’s Hand
Death set the sun,
and souls stirred about in the wind.
The road ahead is dark and empty.
Carry on I must, for I need to leave this place.
My love has left,
my heart has cracked,
and now I have no purpose.
I began my journey,
and ventured into the abyss.
Down the road.
Trees wept with quiet sorrow,
the cool breeze perpetuates,
and runs through my body.
As I walk, and walk,
the moon gazes upon me with its deserted eyes.
Each step I take is an emotional stab in the heart.
I am alone,
and I shall remain alone.
Tears stream down my cheeks,
my mind began to race.
A park was in the distance,
“Finally,” I said, “Sanctuary.”
I sat on a bench and started to sob.
I was startled when someone sat beside me.
It was a man, dressed in black with pale white skin.
We talked for a while, his voice soft and quiet.
He proudly spoke of his travels with excitement.
He rose from the bench and reached out to me.
I grabbed death’s hand and walked into the shadows,
leaving everything behind.
Death set the sun,
and souls stirred about in the wind.
The road ahead is dark and empty.
