This is a great story! I first heard Jeff Wayne's version about 7 years ago, and that was terrific ;) I saw the movie a couple of years later but it was pretty stupid. It left out too much of the story (well so did the musical version but the music made up for that). Now i just finished reading the book i can see it goes much deeper than just earth being wiped out by martians. quite an original idea, the martians not solely focused on exterminating humanity!
