Here is my thread looking for The Brothers Karamazov (http://www.online-literature.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62644). Sorry for reposting it, but it explains my (rather silly) idea of assembling a personal library of classics drawn from modern editions. My question is, where are the best places to ask for the best translations, other than for this forum?

Don't fret about translations dude. For prose, the translator doesn't really matter, as long as it's of a minimum quality. Usually there's a few names known as translator such as pevear and volokhonsky (Good choice for Brothers K) that are known to put out decent work. As my personal rule when looking for a prose book in translation I look for either 1) A recognized author (such as the Mayer-BOGAN Goethe) or 2) I read the first few pages of ones the store has, if it flows, buy it, if not don't.
Like I said, don't fret. Translations aren't ever going to be like the original, if you don't read the original language or choose not to learn (which really isn't too hard these days) then you're stuck with whatever is easiest to get mostly.
