Facade


My mind and soul are engulfed in darkness.
There’s brightness at the end of the road
the happiness is dangling in front of my face,
when I grasp it, it slips through my fingers.
Will joy be ever be reached?

In the light, I am hidden behind a mask of deceptive laughter,
yet deep down in the shadows, my heart overflows with sorrow.
Will bliss ever be attained?
Or will it continue to elude me?

Someone once said to me 'don't wait for the light at the end of the tunnel. Walk down there with a box of matches and make it happen' Your poem reminded me of those words because it contains a negative element to it.
