A Carpet of Bluebells

Thirsty little flowers perked into my eyes,
My dreams bring down showers from heaven nigh,
Hear the ring of my bell singing from a chapel hill
And feel my well drenching forth lush rains on will.

A carpet of bluebells that dance in the wind
Matching her lips that gladly sings,
Light on the ears that remain in Springs air
With bluebells engaged in a dancing affair.

Bluebells of every size and width
Dancing in courtyards taken away my breath,
Against your blouse, a windy affair
You and bluebells spinning everywhere.

Wild bluebells, bright purples and blues
Lifting to the air in scented flights,
Amazing nature and her flowers
With bluebells that stir my heart's delight.

Baby Blue

The wide blue, shouting voices, anger
Get in line! German voices, laughing
What have we here?
Snickering, a baby?
Laughing, barking
Shepherds steaming in the sun
Laughing, shouting... hand over that!

Baby held in immaculate white glove, a mock kiss,
Smirks into baby's eyes
There be no baby's here!...
Hysterical screaming, barking, German shouting,
Get in line!
Mocking, screams

German officer extends arms, holding baby's tiny hands
White gloves, tossing in the air, traveling, bare ground
Blue sky, formless faces, sketches of darkness, striped hollow beings,
Proud fit officers, blue sky, breath taken away, a thump,
A burning flame, deep burning, skin boiling, last cries, smoke billows,
Gasping hearts, mocking and smiling, barking into blue,
Ashes toss in the wind, a pulp of ashes, time proceeds.

I think Baby Blue is the most powerful one here as it reminds me of babies being thrown in the air and shot down by Nazis during the war. Perhaps it could be tightened up in some way to not only reflect its power but a social commentary on the cruelty of humankind
