I whole-heartedly agree with you that long books do not have to be boring. <br>But this book is NOT long. The Count of Monte Cristo (117 chapters/550 pages of tightly spaced font) is pretty long. Les Miserables (365 chapters/1463 pages) is most certainly long. However, War of the Worlds, with only 27 chapters (and, if I am remembering correctly, about 150-200 pages), is short.
And what a cover! Did you see those lame 80s rendition tripods shooting at people? *shaking head* I'm glad I didn't stop right there and throw the corny-covered book out, it was awesome! Unbelievable, engaging, dramatic, cool book. 8)

You're right there, try reading a Tom Clancy novel! he could learn a thing or two about a tight plot from Wells! Not that I don't like his books, I just need a few months off work every time I am reading one;-) Les Mis was a fantastic novel though!

I think that many people think that if a book is long it automatically has to be boring. So what!! There are many larger books than this and they are found to be interesting. I liked this novel from the cover to the last amazing page. This novel is GREAT I found it exciting and suspenseful. I recomend it to everybody who isnt shallow enough to judge a book by its cover.
