Hey, I read "Young Goodman Brown" for college a few months ago and really enjoyed it. Does anyone know of Hawthhorne's other works that would be similar or are there any that you guys would recommend?

Check out his two most famous collections of short stories, Twice Told Tales and Mosses from an Old Manse. One of them has "Young Goodman Brown" in it, though I can't remember which off the top of my head. Also, if you somehow didn't read it in high school, you could check out The Scarlet Letter.

His short piece, "The Celestial Railroad" is based on the world of The Pilgrim's Progress and I can't praise it too highly. But familiarity with PP is rather necessary to appreciating it.

I adore Hawthorne. The House of the Seven Gables is a great novel that is similar to Young Goodman Brown in setting and general theme. And one of my favorite chapters in all of literature is in that book -- Hawthorne spends the entirety of it mocking/chiding a recently dead Puritan magistrate. His authorial voice is just straight wicked.
