I've come across him online in quotes, apparently he's 3rd best known poet, Shakespeare being first, and Lao Tzu being second.

What say ye about this man?

Read his most famous work The Prophet several times - plus many of his tales and anecdotes ... Timeless wisdom written in a timeless style. I wouldn't call him a poet, though. He was more a storyteller.
