View Full Version : A World Without Wisdom

Some say I went off the deep end,
Some say I dream too far away,
A place where no mountain can be held
A distance where only loneliness is beholden.

Some say it is what it is,
Get a grip and follow along.
But the martyrs' knew better
They didn't play by that song.

Some say I'm a man with no sense,
Some say I'm a man out of season
Tapping my beat to an empty drum,
A place where only dreams go to die.

I've heard all the reasons why
It doesn't matter as long as your alive,
But life is the cover for all that's real,
So time can blind the hand of God.

There is no time outside the mind,
What you think you know is false rhyme,
What appears the truth is really a lie,
What appears foolish is really meant to be.

For the proud fall hard from self belief.
What is there to believe that is shown?
For wisdom hides truth in the unseen
What appears folly is what's real!

Don't you know this world is going away?
It keeps what it owns and dispenses away
all that don't belong.

Don't you know the world reclaims its bliss,
It believes what it knows by what it sees,
Nothing at all.

Despite the obvious religious inclinations it's hard to know what this is about.

I assume it's some reference to the transience of human life compared to the eternity of the universe and the spiritual. But the metaphors are unfocussed and seem quite arbitrary - as Jack says, it doesn't make sense when read as a whole.
Most of the lines read like quotes picked from fortune cookies.
