What response has the poet?

What response has the poet,
to the smashed glass,
the ripped bath chap,
the splattered shirt,
the hurt?
He had the finest
vegetable knife
and a handful of her hair.
It seemed no line
would slay him.
What response has the poet,
but to bleed
onto cold white paper?

I like it's starkness...but felt disappointed by the bleeding onto the white paper. It seemed rather cliche, in the midst of all of the other awesomeness.

ah, you had me thinking about it and I came up with mansized paper but had to scrap it, as although it may sound cliche, bleeding on cold white paper fits too well as the juxtaposition to the reality of horrific violence. Thanks Shannon.
