Okay I'll start with this below.
Bukowski is a jam tart, soft on inside and hard on outside.

I thoroughly enjoy Bukowski's stories and poems though I believe they appeal to the younger audiences (I'm 20) because what he talks about is often taboo and socially controversial. I would be interested to see whether or not the older, more experienced readers on this forum have an interest or respect for the man.

That's great! Glad to hear it. I was mostly trying to put the point across that many younger readers simply read Bukowski because of his reputation, not necessarily what his ideas are, you know?
