Hi. I'm Montcalm, or 'Aaron' is fine. I like Donald Barthelme and Vladimir Nabokov and various other people such as Padgett Powell, Margaret Atwood, Kurt Vonnegut, Annie Proulx, and Studs Terkel, who is my token nonfiction guy. I used to be a creative writing major at San Jose State University until I graduated very recently, and now I'm just a guy with a cashflow problem and an unfinished novel about walnuts.

In the past three days, I've failed to finish My Polar Flights by Umberto Nobile, Pale Fire by Nabokov, and A Single Man by Christopher Isherwood. I don't know what's wrong with me. So now I'm rereading Bend Sinister, which is one of half a dozen books I reach for between other books.

I have to say this is one of the most boring covers I've ever seen. It's- hold on, I'm going to take a picture.

Hi, hello, how are you doing.

While I do like a minimalistic approach to cover designs, that is quite bland indeed.

I bought Steppenwolf a couple of years ago, and the cover was blank so that you could design your own. I'm afraid I decorated it with the bottom of a coffee cup.

lol, Paulclem. BTW I thought Bend Sinister was an excellent book when I read it.

Bend Sinister is a strange book. One of Nabokov's more surreal novels - like Invitation To A Beheading. I think Nabokov called them "little fantasies". Along with Pale Fire, they are my favourites of his.
