Henry at the cash point
extracts cash, vomits moet.
Pinstriped woven pockets,
soft hands,
tickling pink testicles.
A Lady Godiva
for a big issue
buys skunk
for Pizza Pete
hung in piss soaked pants.
The train station has a diesel warmth
and a tannoy warning
of the tick tock horror
of unattended baggage.
Pizza Pete has a spot by the café,
where people like Henry
quite willingly buy
mocca chocca at only a
quid a drip.
Pete pays the dealer
who pays the man
who sells a gun
to a boy on a bike
who shoots the spotty kid,
wearing different colours.
Henry buys the moet
that feeds the economy
that bombs a spotty kid,
in a far away hot country.
Shirley, on the tannoy
takes a further break
from fellating the boss,
to warn us again
of the tick tock horror
of unattended baggage.

You are full of surprises Jer. While the "tick tock horror" unfolds, the thing that stuck in my mind as the most terrible is, someone vomiting Moet? What a waste! Once again you mastered the casual with the dead serious.

There's something uncomfortably gripping about your poem - and I think, at least for me, what I took from it was a sense that we are all connected to these dark events. That our interaction with each other, and in this case, the flowing of money from one person to the next, eventually leads down the line to the deaths of some people. A web.

It seems to me, the warning of unattended baggage is a red herring - and is a distraction from the true root of the problem - us - people. Or, are we the tick-tock horror? Are we the unattended baggage?

This is like the very estimable Jacques Prevert on speed! Devastating!

Surprise is my middle name haunted. Apart from David.

Thanks Vignette the unattended baggage is a recorded loop which tells all about the progress we have made since a train station was a happy place.

Thank you Prince, good to hear from you again, I was getting a complex. Mr Prevert must be damn good ;)

unattended bagged, like unfinished business and something has got to happen, but what?
