I cannot seem to find any books about taking over the world or the character gaining power

Not like a "how to" guide. More like where the story is where the main character gains power throughout the book and ends up taking over the world or something like that.

The general theme should be like that of the movie Scarface, though it does not have to involve illegal means or drugs or anything. Even a book where the main character does it via political means is fine.

Thank you :))

It's not prose literature, but there's a pretty good manga series called Sanctuary that follows two best friends who vow together to elevate themselves and change the world, one by becoming a politician, and the other through joining the yakuza.

In Atlas Shrugged, John Galt doesn't exactly take over the world, but he does undermine it to the point where the entire United States is practically at his Galt's Gulch's control.

In the first book of the Dakar trilogoy, Mutineer's Moon the main character, Colin MacIntyr, becomes Emperor of Mankind. Not quite him "taking over", but the end result is the same. Series by David Weber.
