I'm trying to find the title and author of a russian novel, and I'm hoping someone here can help me.
This is all I know: It's a long novel about a woman who either plays the piano or is a piano teacher, and towards the end of the novel this woman is perhaps trying to escape something or someone, and close to the Russian-Polish border she is shot in the back. The novel is not new, as the person who told me about the book last read it back in the late 1970's.
