I have been a follower for quite some time, and I really like browsing around, so thought I should make an account and start to actually participate in the discussions.:yawnb:
How do you think we can explain the protagonists in Albert Camus' "The Stranger" and George Orwells "1984" and their female relationships by looking at the different societies in these works?
I think it's quite obvious that Winston is a rebel and must therefore go against society by having an affair with Julia. In The Stranger it is however it is not quite that obvious. Even though his view on females is different than what is expected in society, he does not actively try to go against society.
What are your views on this?
