While I can't say I'm used to the forum introductory process, I'm certainly familiar with it. I've joined many in the past and have been a regular (more or less) on two other forums for roughly the past five years, so hopefully I won't be too severely out of the loop on here. XD
Concerning my user name... it's from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion, or more specifically, his legend of Beren and Luthien. It's pretty much my favorite chapter in the entire book, and perhaps my favorite piece of Tolkien's writing. There are multiple reasons for this, including the amazing backstory, but primarily because it was just dang awesome to read.
My actual name is Riley, and feel free to call me that if you wish. I've seen forums that prefer real names over user names, so just throwing that out there. XD
I've been writing since I was 12, though not without immense difficulty. It hasn't been the smoothest of processes, mainly because I went to the wrong people for advice. But I'm trying to pick it up again like I used to, and that's admittedly one reason why I came here. Maybe seeing other people's work and even posting my own for critique will get me out of this stubborn creative rut. o_o
Lastly, it should probably be said that I'm as crazy about film as I am about literature. In fact, I'm currently pursuing an education in film, and if I discover that it's truly what I love, I'm hoping to make it a career along with my writing endeavors. I don't know what the film community is like on this site, but I do see that there's a subforum for that sort of thing. I'll probably make myself right at home there. :P
Beyond that, I suppose we'll get to know each other over time. I'll answer any of your questions, if you're interested. I look forward to finding my long and awkward way around this place. XD
