I found this excellent site while searching for a poem and I am hoping that perhaps someone might have any idea if it is just the words of a would be poet or in fact a known piece.
My friend`s mother died and when clearing some of her personal items she found this on a scrap of paper. It was typed on a very old typewriter, and though very simple..rather touching and relevant. It was read out at a recent memorial service for her.
In many ways we rather hope that this cannot be sourced as it will be a wonderful addition to my friend`s memories of a truly lovely lady thinking that she herself had penned it !

‘Wouldn’t it be lovely if the sun shone every day?
And summer was forever and winter stayed away.
And wouldn’t it be lovely if people always smiled,
And life was smooth and simple and nothing was defiled.
And wouldn’t it be lovely if everyone could say,
That everything we wanted always came our way.
Yet if we didn’t have the rain, the flowers would never grow,
And we’d never know the beauty of a winter under snow.
And if all in life were simple and everything was sweet
We’d never know the pleasure of a victory o’er defeat.
So live each day completely, be it good or be it sad
For there’s a silver lining whatever clouds you’ve had.`
