I just read the rule that I could not vote for Carlos Cortez, but I'm afraid it is too late.

So just say another person you want, and we'll discount one and count another.

Great, but could you also vote for them in the poll, in order to make things run smoother.

Done, mental note taken.

I'm with JBI... recount! Ovid lived 21 centuries ago.

Sorry folks, I have been away with pressing work matters. Do you want me to vote in this poll or leave it to the next?

OK, I have not looked at the poll so that it doesn't influence my choice, though I doubt it would anyway, but I have gone for:
The Psalms
Ovid's Metamorphoses
Three Hundred Tang Poems

That's preposterous. Almost all of the best poets lived that long ago: Homer, Virgil, Horace, Vyasa, Valmiki. The runner up is the collection of Tang poems from 14 centuries ago then the Hebrew Psalms which are downright ancient. Firdawsi is a thousand years old. Rumi, Hafez, Jayadeva, and Dante are almost as old. Shakespeare lived four centuries ago, and who is better now? That Ovid has lasted so long is a point in his favor, and it's shameful that he isn't more often read.

Meh, I nominated and say that it is probably a good idea to poll with at least top 3, that way everyone gets something they want.

I am going to wait a day or two more so the last people can vote before opening the second definitive poll of the top 5.

I thought I had voted but I am not in the poll. I'm not sure what happened. A person can vote in the second round if they didn't vote in the first, right?

I'm late to the party. Fortunately two of my votes are with the majority anyway, except Pasolini
