He said those words,
He said them to me,
I thought I had misheard
So he had to say them twice
Was it a mistake?
Did he mean to say them to me?
Of course not,
He’s not talking to me
He’s talking to Carol
She’s sat behind me
Oh no she’s gone for coffee
So yes he was talking to me
He did say those words,
And he did say them to me
I couldn't believe it
I thought I must be dreaming,
I would wake up in a moment
To find it was a pleasant dream
And I would smile to myself
And let out a little sigh
But he said those words to me
And with those words
He changed my world
The sun shone on my existence
And my heart skipped a beat
I didn’t even know he’d noticed me
I didn’t know he knew that I existed
But he said those words to me
And I said yes

I very much enjoyed this poem, I began to feel woozy by the end.
Thank you for sharing it.

I won't rest now until you share those words Biggus.

I smell a marriage proposal. This sounds exactly like the teenage movies, where the girl describes in detail how irrelevant she felt, and how miraculous the moment was when the man of her dreams asked her for her hand.

Not to say this poem was cliche or unskilled, but I didn't feel any suspense or anticipation. The sentiment is there, and it's admirable. And sweet. I just didn't feel moved by this entry.

It's no marriage proposal. What is it?

I thought it was a gay proposition and then thought it might be a 'I love you Dad'

What I will say is that it is written from a woman's perspective. So Delta its not a gay proposal or anything to do with Dads.
And I could tell you what he said Jerry but then i'd have to kill you.

PS it never ceases to amaze me that the words I don't write get more interest than the words I do

That's true. It is a sign of a good poet. You give us something to ponder over....
