Ha Jin

Jin is a Chinese author who has written a few award winning books in English, which is pretty amazing considering it is his second language. I read one of his more recent books that received decent reviews, A Free Life (His only book set in America), a sober portrait of a Chinese immigrant family slowly and steadily making their way to security and safety . While I found that work to be worthwhile, I've read his much better short stories and waiting for me on my shelf is the book that got him the National Book Award, Waiting.
