Here I am in my creative writing class,
bored out of my mind,
really hoping I pass.
The teacher told us to write a poem
about whatever we want.
But I’ve never wrote one in my life.
So I just sit in my seat and wait for the bell to ring
and as I wait I think of stuff like…
Can I juggle a knife and
did my sister find my stash of Mike and Ikes.
And now as I check my phone
I realize that I only have ten minutes left.
Now that I’m almost done with this poem
I think I’m actually beginning to like this class.
I seriously want to go home.
I really hope I pass.

This doesn't pull me in although I did want to lean on one hand while I read it to at least reflect the mood of the piece!

I'm quite sure you can do better if you put your mind to it. :smile5:

I actually rather liked it. It's plain and simple, and while nobody would mistake it for a masterpiece or something great it has a definite charm. I think the plainness of the diction which echoes the speaker's feeling of boredom, as well as the repetition of "I really hope I pass" as it does seem to capture the lack of interest for most kids in school. Then again, it's a poem about the lack of desire for writing a poem for class, so it has a nice meta element to it too.
