Coming down the chimney

Slime Blue

Slime Green

Here they are in the fireplace

Slimy slugs all over the coffee table

Waggling their woggly tentacles

I run to the door

But they've sealed it from the outside

Same with the window

Roof cracks and splits under their weight

Where did they come from?

No-one knows

Just appeared

Leaving a trail of sticky glassy slime

Wherever they go

Devouring everything in their path

Absorbing it with their slimy juices

Great big slimy eyes on slimy stalks

Look around to see what next to eat

And then split in two

And slime off in different directions

They're horrible

They're slimy


They're here!


They're all over the place!

There is a great deal of slime in this poem. some alternatives could be

mucus
ooze
scum
sludge

Thanks MS - I never read them, but now you've got me goggling - did you know they sold a million copies a month from the time they were released, and four million copies a month by the mid-nineties!? Knock me over with a feather!


Thanks Delta - I read it back and realised I may have gone overboard with the slime, but they're just so slimy!

^ I read them all of the original series as a kid, and I still vividly remember parts of them, but they're all kinda jumbled together in my head. I'm tempted to say I was reminded of Monster's Blood. I know they were tremendously successful, and next to Animorphs it was probably my favorite series as a kid.

Further research has revealed that they're not that bad (not bad at all) - much better than I would have thought - full of ideas, and very readable
