She cannot feel the way I do
For if she did, she’d die
She would not hold him at night
Whilst I sit and cry
She wouldn’t hold him in the dark
Wishing it were I
She would not kiss upon his lips
Tasting mine instead
She would not lie in his arms
Wishing they were mine
Nor sit in his lap, or hug so tight
As if everything felt fine
She would not open up her heart
And give him all her hours
Sailing away together into the sun
Upon loves reservoir
She wouldn’t talk of him nor sing
Love songs would seem so sour
She would not think of the future
And see them together
A fog, a cloud, a claustrophobic mist
Would envelop them and sever
Those visions of a future would show
Her and I forever
She’d see the echoes of past had etched
Lashings across my heart
And unable to bear the sight of which
She’d mend me with her art
In skilful love and tender care
She’d make me whole to start;
A journey together into the world
Immersed in sweet romance
No pain, no hurt, no suffering, no lies
Would enter, as we dance
Through forests, mountains, other worlds
Unreached by any man
We’d stand naked amidst a glade
Two souls entwined as one
We’d enter the realm of each others hearts
And lose ourselves for fun
Soaring the skies, swimming each ocean
Our love leaving us overcome
But she loves him not you
So let her go
With a piece of your heart
Rather than it whole
But remember her smile, and smile
Lest your heart it turn cold
For if she did, she’d die
She would not hold him at night
Whilst I sit and cry
She wouldn’t hold him in the dark
Wishing it were I
She would not kiss upon his lips
Tasting mine instead
She would not lie in his arms
Wishing they were mine
Nor sit in his lap, or hug so tight
