I was curious about this self-publishing e-book lark and goggle directed me to this - writers promoting their books on an Amazon thread:

http://www.amazon.com/tag/comedy/forum/ref=cm_cd_dp_rft_tft_tp?_encoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx1K8MWMB6XXZJ&cdThread=Tx12N1I0NT0ELCX

Whether anyone wants to comment on this I don't know, but as to me I found it an interesting discovery

I would be careful MM. There are alot of ebook scams uploading on well-known sites like Amazon.

I don't know if this helps but it is enough to make me think twice. Like having to pay to get your work published while millions of others are doing the same with the expectation they too will be published.

Do some in-depth research first.

Timely thread with the increase in ebook reader sales and increased adaptation by writers and all.

I've been researching ebook publishing as well; from the software side (text conversion), the publishing side (Amazon, for instance), and the promotional side (self promotion and other). {I must be missing a side ?}

I've looked at a few services like Bookbaby: [email protected] - and am still mulling over the best way to go.

As Delta40 stated ever-so succinctly ~ beware, and be diligent in your researching.

I didn't even know Amazon had a "Comedy Community," weird. The only discussion I ever read on Amazon involved people who hated, and did not hate, Shel Silverstein.

Thank you for exposing another secret internet pocket of nerds, MystyrMystyry. I will marvel at them.

Lot of unusual stuff on Amazon if you have the patience to explore the unusual inventory

There's an ob-com wristwatch forum which is on the bizarrer side of bizarre, and look out if you're in the market for a new camera - and a gintillion others that are just weird

I was interested in a particular film and the standard reviews don't go far enough, so I hit Amazon for the 1-2 star reviews and one began with 'I couldn't work out what this was about so I stopped watching it after five minutes but it seemed to have something to do with being in another dimension and that didn't interest me so I stopped watching it after a couple of minutes and there was a few pretty girls but they ran out so I stopped watching it after about half an hour... (etc etc)'

Anyway the original post was more about how to publicise a self-published ebook
