When did acquaintance
Turn into friendship?
When did friendship become affection?
When did affection change to love?
There were no obvious signs
That I can recall
No waves crashing on the rocks
No rockets in the sky
No bells and whistles
No brass band playing
No symbols crashing
But it has happened anyway
Was it when I saw you enter the room?
Or when I first heard you speak
Was it when I heard you laugh?
Or when you first spoke to me
Was it when I saw you smile?
Or when I made you blush
Was it when we danced?
Or when we first held hands
Was it when I stared deeply in to your eyes?
And saw into you soul
Perhaps it was while we kissed
Or when we made love
There was no obvious cause
It was not any one of the above
Yet it was all of them and more

I'd be in favour of the blush as love beginning... for the rest, there may not be an end to this list and each and everyone item, as put into this poem, has its own strength and spell, especially with the others! A pleasant read, Biggus! Thanks, Bar

I really like how you've essentially made one poem out of three sequences of anaphora, and I actually think the parts that don't conform to the sequence are the weakest. I'd remove "But it has happened anyway" and "There was no obvious cause", and I might also think about rewriting the last two sentences. It sounds awfully prosey. That said, I think you did an excellent job of capturing all of those moments where acquaintance bleeds into affection and then into love. It is indeed an accumulation of moments rather than one moment.

I like it for its simplicity. A grass roots man's poem if you ask me.

I do ask you.
