Running thru the meadow
In short shorts.
The tall reeds smacking
Against my bare skin.

Laughing with the breeze,
Feeling the smells;
Warmed by the sun,
Part of the aura.

Barefoot
Waddling thru the pool
Scooping up
Tadpoles
In the cup of my hand.

Oh no!
There were four
Now only three…
Two!

I watch in admiration.

As I hold new life in the palm of my hand.

I feel like a creator.
A god of sorts….
Yet I know better
As I am just a speck

who
wanted to run thru the reeds
breathe in the shine
and take part of the aura.

And discover life
Once again.

That sounds so reminiscent of a childhood without any cares except for being part of the world Kitty!

Cool kitty - reminds me a little of Blake (though I really hate to name drop - I really do!) though completely different at the same time, kitty paws unique

Evocative of a childhood innocence lost in the mists of time - from the 'short shorts' to the sense overload associated with youth where you're 'feeling the smells' and can 'breathe in the shine'.

I loved it.

It's a lovely piece, though it sits a bit too uncomfortably for me in between lyric poetry, a short story, something impressionistic and something more telling and linear. Actually, reading again, I think the problem is the rapidity of the images in the first two stanzas which turns into something more focused from the third stanza on. Perhaps there's a bit of a disconnect; maybe it would be better with JUST the bits about the tadpoles and what comes after.
