Hi, I'm writing an Extended Essay for the International Baccalaureate in English and I've been thinking about the works and topics I want to write about. A Clockwork Orange is a book I really enjoyed, not to mention the film adaption, and I think it's a good starting point for a comparative essay. Works that I've considered so far include Lolita and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. I got quite bored with the latter and I'm not too excited about it but I'm still thinking about comparing the use of language in Lolita with and A Clockwork Orange. Since the essay itself is limited in length, will an essay on this kind of topic be too broad? I've also thought about analysing the main character of each book in relation to the unspeakable atrocities they commit. Thoughts on these topics? Any suggestions of other topics/works? Thank you.
