Step Right Up! The Circus Is In Town!

Come One Come All! The Greatest Show-

For some, not all, not me, never me

My best show is after the lights are down

Amidst the smokey torches and circus din

Scouring the audience for my next victim

I see you looking at me there in the crowd

Staring at my frizzy yellow hair and gaudy

Greasepaint - but I'm staring back, staring

From the corner of my beady eye

My cold dry eye like a green glass pellet

But you dont notice the flash, blinded

By the shiny red rubber bubble-nose

The multicolours of my baggy trousers

My over-sized suspenders, barber-striped shirt

Polkadot tie with a propellor bow

Floppy blue topper, my giant candy cane

The three foot boots on my stumbling feet

You smile and laugh - so you think I'm funny?

Well you've passed my test

I'm not smiling - I'm snarling back - this grin you see

Is drawn on - a temporary tattoo for the true fools

Would you like a balloon, pretty one? It'll be the

First of my presents - the next will glint like silver

Beneath the crescent moon

My criteria for your crime? Your imagination

'How good it must be to be like me'

But it's a closed shop - I'll get you before you

Run away to join us

It isn't me with the fractured brains - it's you pretty one

I'm but your saviour sparing you from the torture

Of a jellybean life - see how good I really am? See?

Tomorrow I'll be in another town

But tonight I'll introduce you to the others

As we carve

As we carve you

As we carve you into

As we carve you into tasty bitesize chunks

well if clowns were ever scary, they're scarier now!

I hope so Delta - it was quite a raz imagining myself as an ill-humoured crazy clown with cannabalistic appetite

I guess because circus clowns aren't just working a day job, but it's an entire lifestyle - they have to actually be the clown around the clock - as for the history of evil clowns I'll have to do some research (though I suspect they're far more whacko than anyone expects)

It's creepy as hell, MM. I'm one of those who was psychologically scarred by the circus and clowns as a kid. There's also bits of this that remind me of Tod Browning's Freaks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBXyB7niEc0).

I am a lonely little girl living in a lonely basement in a faraway country, oceans away from home. :bawling: Why'd you do that to me? :bawling:

(Nice one :P No wonder I think clowns are spooky!)

I knew this was going to be a horror piece! Clowns are the ultimate evil! Pennywise, KISS, ICP, and a million other pop-culture references being all the evidence I need. I really loved the phrase "jellybean life", that's when I knew this was based on reality!

MS - thankyou for the compliment - this was a real mindstretch in many ways that may not seem apparent - and after something like this I generally need a break from it for a while - thus the delay in replying because I didn't want to accidentally re-read it and get drawn back down to the sordid place - sorry to foist it upon you unsuspectingly like

As for freaks - yep indeed - I saw that when very young and it screened on TV under a different title - saw it again a decade later and it was far scarier - glad they only had clips on utube

symphony - again I should apologise - for all the evil in the world too

(Actually I have an update on clowns if you want to pm me - they really are more terrifying than you'd think)

every - when I ask you for suggestions you'll supply them - and like it!

I'm not sure - does your last sentence mean to say no more or is it as I suspect a typo for do more? It surely must be the latter...

deryk - thankyou for your encouragement - you realise there were bits I had to omit because they were too atrocious even for me - the jellybeans is what remained after I snipped a six line stanza

My next opus though - unabridged!
