Laurie realised that he only loved Jo as a sister, and Amy as a possible wife. At firt he had thought it was the other way around.

teacher, I agree with you. Laurie and Jo make the perfect couple! I also thought he should have asked Jo again. Who knows, she might have said yes!

Haha... I think that is a funny post. I love this book, and I think if Louisa May was still around, we'd have a lot of questions for her!

No! They would've made a terrible couple!! Two hot tempers=disaster. Mr. Bhaer, though old and poor, was - and is - a much better choice for Jo. Jo disliked making calls and all that stuff she would've had to do if she had married Laurie. Jo and Laurie even say they are happy how it worked out (that Laurie got Amy and Jo got the Bhaer) later on in the book.

I have to say that orginally I was upset about Amy getting Laurie, but in the long run it made sense. If Alcott had not included the concept of unrequinted love it would have left out a huge life lesson and life lessons are the point of this book.

I agree with Jacquie's comment. I feel that Laurie settled for Amy when his heart remained with Jo. I think that Laurie asked Jo to marry him simply at an inopportune time. He should have asked Jo again. Amy had it for Laurie since the beginning! I dislike Amy.
