I kick at the dust as I toiled relentlessly, producing nothing.
All the time wondering why the tree had been planted in the garden.
The temptation of deeper knowledge weighed on my mind as I lamented what I had attained.
“Omniscience is mine!” I screamed.
The moment had all but passed as my own voice echoed round the planet, cycled back to me, and subsequently knocked me into the grave that I had been digging.

The tense isn't consistent or compatible all the way through this, but as for the content, how sombre! It's reminiscent of Ecclesiastes !: "Vanity, Vanity, sayeth the preacher..." especially the closing lines:

1:17 I applied my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also was a chasing after wind. 1:18 For in much wisdom is much grief; and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow

It does have a definitely postlapsarian, Biblical tone to it.
