A Heart in Turmoil

I sit and I stand,
Waiting for someone to show me, me
A body too big for the man within ?
A heart in turmoil, twisted, tyrannical
Tempted by debauchery, chained to temptation
His finger etches ever closer to that button inside
His heart and mind wandering beyond any realm
To depths of despair and peaks of pride
The middle ground a battlefield, inflicting scars
Inflicting scars, which marinate in time
Travelling within, till they reach the very soul
And paint it a merry mess
He wails in his sleep
I see a person in the distance, a person I could be
He stands erect against the world, he leads
He loves, he fights, he cries, he dies but not inside
I run in the other direction
