The locals weep over
the Hunchcroc of Birdsville
A cat pounces on a wood cockroach
as Frankenstein drowns a little girl
Outside a father uses a mallet
to smash his son's hamster.
A thundercrack tears through the sky.
King Koala panics and craps himself
An elderly Birdsville resident sucks
chocolate balls for comfort.
The town statue is struck
leaving only its plinth.
The power goes down
and everyone is in the dark.
Blood sucking Vampiroos bound
down the street disembowelling
sheep, cows and a bitter bloke called Vic.
Malteasers melt under a tropical full moon.
A Weredingo howls when he is
bashed with a baseball bat
and dumped in the recycle bin.
The old lady wheels it to the kerb
as part of Neighbourhood Watch.

Despite the dangers, I want to live there.

I don't know about a great place to work, but it should be the centerpiece of some Discovery Channel episode!

Lol. Thanks everyone. I think being ill has drained me of my normal creative flow and I'm picking at the rotting pieces left on the bone, if you know what I mean?

Does anyone feel their writing gets 'darker' at times?

Does anyone feel their writing gets 'darker' at times?Of course. The best writers are usually those that are able to capture the varieties of humanity's moods, emotions, thoughts, etc. Sometimes I have to consciously break away from writing dark stuff to writing other things.

It's something I have to constantly suppress just to make my work readable, hahah!
