Oh lover, you're falling apart:
keys popping out like brittle teeth!
You offer a gapped, apologetic smile
that fills my heart with tender pity.
You've run dry, no juice,
no gumption, you rely on the
constant life support of your adaptor cord,
which, just today, caught fire.
You sparked with an enthusiasm
I didn't know you possessed
and in the moment before horror,
I enjoyed the show.
34%.
How little time we have together.
I should tell you, my love…
but you already know.

Those last 4 lines, in fact much of this, reminds me of the sad dwindling away of HAL in "2001, A Space Odyssey," especially that last, compassionate line. Nicely done.

You're speaking to your Mac as I do to mine... mine seems a bit younger though... but your verse reminds me of the affection for robots in Issac Asimov's realms... well done, thanks for sharing...!

I'm not sure how to take this. It is sad and witty at the same time EA. I do like
You've run dry, no juice,

constant life support of your adaptor cord,
which, just today, caught fire.
which would read better as one stanza.

An interesting analogy of life's decay, fast motioned through the metaphor of modern electronics and the inevitable wearing out of parts and performance - by using a brand name you have captured the personal/impersonal (we're all individuals - but we all pass the same) of the final act with its definite conclusion
or
Time for an upgrade!

I had the exact same thought! But 2001 is one of my favorite films, so I thought it was just me!
Just like HAL shutting down there's that startling combination of finding humanism in machines. I guess it goes to show we humans can get attached to anything!

@Prince: Never heard of that movie, maybe I'll have to check it out.
@Bar: It's only a year and a half old! He's too young to die!!!!
@Morpheus: Yes, I think my attachment to my Mac could be deemed "unhealthy." There's a video on YouTube of a woman from the UK who "married" her Mac...

Reminds me of the ritual killings I go through every time I upgrade a computer that is beyond salvaging.
