We've got Dylan and Leonard Cohen and a few others for sure. I'd give Shane McGowan from the Pogues a nod for sure. Some heavy metal, though you can barely hear what they're saying half the time, they write some wild stuff if ya read the lyrics.

Who else? Tom Waits. Costello. Bowie. Some classics by guys like Townshend - the who - the stones. A whole bunch no doubt. My brother likes a band called Streetlight Manifesto, a ska type band, good lyrics.

Guess I've always liked words, lyrics.

I suppose they're not "classic" (at least not yet ;) ), but I think Switchfoot has some really good lyrics. Jon Foreman (the lead singer of Switchfoot) also has some great solo stuff. I like how they sing of the human condition and of life in general. Good stuff.

And the folk singer Gordon Lightfoot is a pretty good poet, I would say.
