This is great, Dark Muse. The insistent memory of someone gone, and impossible to forget, but who refuses to leave your consciousness. They reappear at the most inopportune moments. In the bath, over breakfast, when you're trying to sleep, in your nightmares...

Like ghouls and zombies they lurk in the wings ready to strike out when least expecting them, be it a chance glance at a packet of their favorite crisps in the supermarket, the sound and intonation of someone's voice, a tune on the radio, or just for no obvious reason

I have a ghoul too, and I wish he'd be gone for good, but still lingering after years past

I have actually done stranger things than that. I once drank the most disgusting concoction because a friend of mine told me it was some sort of purification thing, I now suspect he just wanted to see if he could get me to drink it.
