These Apple iPod Touches seem pretty nifty, but being only wi-fi (and not mobile broadband) they're not quite the ever ready worldwide university in a pocket I'd hoped for. As a general device they're quite amazing when compared to the original iteration and even to my first couple of computers, and they feel so good in the hand - lightweight and insubstantial that carrying them anywhere is not a problem

You can load them with books, magazines, audiobooks, music and movies and just about anything including (admittedly crappy) games, but should you require a specific piece of information immediately you're better off calling or texting someone with a net connection to google it for you rather than hunting down a wi-fi location

If it's just sitting in a coffeeshop with wi-fi it's fine because you can access the day's web papers and whatever floats your boat, but not so handy for a walk in the park - though you can easily enough just downoad all the info you should need for the day in the morning and update when you get home

Photo quality isn't actually a quality at all, but if you shoot a short video you get the bonus of acceptable quality (and animated) merged with sound which isn't the case in a traditional photograph, so thumbs up, though it isn't a Canon s95 so you shouldn't expect it do be

Sound is excellent in earbuds, and tinnily worthless via the built-in speaker which is only there for short facetime calls anyway

Now to the touch screen - this retina display really is the business as reading text is as clear as a printed page, and navigating through the icons and menus armed with only an index finger or thumb is actually a lot more fun than I'd anticipated

Conclusion: We may not have our promised jetpacks, but this thing is beyond any Jetson's marvel (apart from the cars) and really feels 2020 A.D. - everyone should have one

As poetic as it gets. lol.

The camera for taking photos is actually quite incredible. Professional photographers demo'd in photoshoots, check youtube for footages.

Don't forget your iPod Touch is also a flashlight with a mose code SOS God forbids you ever need it.

If full coverage is what you crave then you need the iPhone.

I have the iPhone 4 and it rocks my world.

Thanks for the up haunted. I'll probably do the iphone when mine wears out, but I really like my current phone, irrationally perhaps, but there's a long history between us...
