I like mysteries by P.D. James, Michael Connelly, and a few others. But I generally listen to these on CD while doing something else so my reading tome is not cut into.

Star Wars novels, though I barely read them anymore.

I would say Playboy, but that's not a book. Plus, I don't feel guilty about objectifying women.

Robert E. Howard's horror fiction. Also enjoy the writing team of "Preston, Child." They write suspense fiction.

Oh, yes, I love Jack Reacher too and Terry Pratchett never fails to cheer me up as does Jason fforde.
Actually, in light of mortalterror's response below, I think I'll amend that: a doctor once told me 'You should never feel guilty about anything' - I guess he saw too many people beating themselves up about trivia. So, I don't feel guilty about anything I read. I read for pleasure and just about anything that is well written of its kind gives me pleasure. Some subjects don't interest me and I leave them alone but I'll try anything once and as long as it's well written, I enjoy it.

I wouldn't describe Pratchett as a particularly guilty pleasure - he's a good modern satirist and as such is as valid as any satirist from any other age or to come
But pure guilt is Tom Clancy - I'm surprised more people haven't indulged in his rich dark chocolate syrup (I suspect they do but don't admit it)
edit: Lokasenna said occasional which I missed - yes, I imagine to only indulge in Patchett occasionally would indeed bring about an attack of the guilts

Well, I'm a Protestant, so I pretty much feel guilty about every pleasure.

I'm going to have to say Stephen King. I haven't read anything he wrote since Bag of Bones (and most recently Full Dark, No Stars), but he's about as silly as I'll go.

I read Jude Morgan's 'Passion' and loved it... I also enjoyed a couple of Rosamund Pilcher books.

God wills it.
No, but seriously, chill out. God won't smite you for reading a good book. I hear so many protestants saying they can't read this or can't read that because they feel guilty -- well, if you're a protestant you should enjoy the Bible (am I right?). Well, if you enjoy the Bible, why not also literature in general and feel good about it?

Terry Pratchett. Including his gnome trilogy for the younger reader.

Historical murder mysteries. I also read other crime fiction, but I especially like Philip Kerr's Berlin Noir.

I have a friend in Switzerland who wrote to tell me that she was an avid fan of a Swiss TV series based on the novels of Rosamund Pilcher. Apparently, it was a tremendous success over there and she was very surprised that I had never heard of " Die Pilcher". A couple of years later, I was staying with some friends in Somerset, and glancing at their bookshelf, I saw a novel by her. Out of curiosity I started reading it and thought that it was mediocre stuff but, if you like Cornwall, it might fit the bill if there were nothing more significant to read.

(I hope this is meant in jest because I find it hilarious!)
I've read a couple of David Nicholls' books recently. Including the bestseller (:yikes:) One Day and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I also like some of Alexander McCall Smith's books.

For someone who leans towards atheism, I read a **** ton of books on ritualistic magic. I don't know why I think it's cool, I just do.

I've just started this and it is very good. I don't see it as a guilty pleasure though, as it's not junk. It's not written by someone who can't write, or doesn't know their subject. It's well-written and interesting. I will go on to read some of his other stuff too, like Symphony, and The Taste of Sorrow, which are already on my TBR pile.

I don't believe in spooks, but I love ghost and haunted house stories and movies. Entertainment =/= personal philosophy.

I haven't started them yet, but at a closing Borders, I picked up a couple of Warhammer novel omnibi that got good Amazon reviews. Assuming I like them, those would certainly qualify as guilty pleasures.

Most recent guilty pleasure: "The Valley of Fear" Arthur Conan Doyle - just couldn't stop reading it until I finished it, and felt guilty for missing my beauty sleep. Also, I don't think it's great literature - too many cliches, too shallow, too stilted, too one-dimensional.... but it's a real page turner... That one dimension ('rip-roaring adventure') is difficult to forego. This is probably my main guilty pleasure - I also watch too many cop shows and James Bond movies - they don't offer me a quantum of solace, but provide some kind of guilty escape...
