It is only when you lose yourself in something that you find out about yourself

Ideals and other intangibles are like holes, though they may not be real, they help shape the world around them.

When the days are long, the years fly past.

One man’s patriot is another man’s pirate

Levity is leviathan

It is only when you deviate from the normal that you become human. (or intimate)

I think this works better as a declaration than a poem. The content is very agreeable, but I'm not sure how to read the fifth line in conjunction with the first. It does contain a certain mystical quality in its issue of paradoxical elements. I preferred intimate to human in the closing.

They are unrelated maxims but i suppose one could always find a common thread at a higher level

Essentially, the motivation for the 5th line was that ridicule / satire / "light-hearted" pranks would possibly cause more hurt and have a much larger emotional impact than that caused by someone who is hurt or angry (especially when you know their state of mind)

Sorry, I forgot to note: these are all great aphorisms! It's only the lack of connective tissue that makes it difficult. I have trouble getting my mind around all of it. You should locate that common thread at the higher level. I've tried, but I don't have the necessary wisdom. I'm sure it exists!

Thanks once again !!

Actually, the main reasons for putting them together is that they all occurred to me at the same point / stage of life.

Finding the connections at a higher level . i suppose , is a life long affair and possibly, one could look at my later poems (after collections / aphorisms and even words and a day in my life) as outcomes of this search for connections

I meant "words", "a day in my life" and other poems were written later
