BLACKBERRY 07/09/1991 to 04/11/2010

No more will I hear
Your most contented purr
That made you dribble on your fur
No more will I be greeted at the door
By your hello meow
No more will you pirouette around my feet
And perform your excited meal time dance
No more will you curl up on my lap
While I watch TV
No more will you curl up on the bed
When I go to sleep
Never again will I wake up
To hear your morning purr
For you have no more mornings
While you sleep your eternal sleep
You were more than a cat
You were a welcoming friend
A quiet companion
You were a constant
And I will miss you Blackberry

Biggus:

Beautiful poem. My condolences on the loss of your furry pal. I know how you feel....

I had to say goodbye to my little Ayesha (July 4, 1994 - February 28, 2011) a week ago today. It has torn my heart out.

Blackberry had a very long life.
It is very easy to become so attached to them and when they go, well... :bawling:
My wife and I are involved with kitty rescue.

I firmly believe their souls travel on to another plane.

I am working on a poetic story about Ayesha; will post it here when completed.
Please take solace in that there are many out there who feel how you feel.

Pets are :Angel_anim:

Condolences on your loss Biggus. The poem is eloquent the way you use No more and never again. One really feels the loss of your companion.

I feel your pain Paul. It sounds like Blackberry had a great life with you if that's any comfort. I lost 3 in less than 2 years, it was heartbreaking. But I believe their souls are always with us.

But I believe their souls are always with us.

I couldn't agree more. Even after they move on, they are nearby, and show it in different ways.

Yes, they do "show" themselves from time to time...

Sorry for your loss, ERS. Looking forward to read your piece.

RIP Blackberry.

Hi Biggus. I am thinking if you had lost a relative you would have had a far less response than this. I draw no conclusions of course.

Funnily enough I was just think that myself.
I've written far better poems than this and havent had half the attension.
Cheers

It just goes to show how much our pets mean to us and how something like this brings together other animal lovers. For me this poem echos what I lost exactly the way you wrote it. I couldn't have done it better myself.

Hi Biggus. I am thinking if you had lost a relative you would have had a far less response than this. I draw no conclusions of course.

Perhaps it has to do with unconditional love; our furry friends being the essence of innocence, and the little slice of Heaven they bring with them each day...

Thats a valid point ERS
